That’s It Then!
Not the result I wanted!
Grrr!
Chelsea have equalised!
Watching The Cup Final
My man and I have just come in from the garden. It’s hot out there and even in the shade, I need to come in to cool off.
He’s getting salads, whilst I’ve just come into the office to check for important e-mails. Nothing! Except a couple of messages on this blog.
We’re both supporting Everton. As I suspect most of the country is today!
That was quick. Everton have just scored! My screams have alerted my man and he’s rushed in wearing nothing but a pinny. Well! That was one thing more than I am!
Chelsea 0 – Liverpool 1
I’ve been watching this, whilst writing a report for Monday.
As in common with most football fans, I was pleased that Chelsea lost. It would really be good if they lost at Hull in mid-week.
They should win there, but the way Hull seem to have the knack of beating people, means that I’ll be crossing my fingers.
Ashley Cole
Last night, we had a good crowd in for the England game. I was working hard dispensing pints and bottles from about four-thirty and by the time the match started, everybody were gathered expectantly around the large screen.
For the first half, there were lots of oohhs and aahhs, but nothing really happened, although England should have scored. But at least everyone was reasonably well-humoured.
After the half-time rush for drinks, they all settled down and there was a great cheer, mainly of relief, when Rio Ferdinand scored from a corner. At last England seemed to be on their way and this was confirmed when a few minutes later, everybody thought Rooney scored. In the end it wasn’t Wayne, but an own goal and now it appeared that England had the three points in the bag.
I should say at this point, that a good proportion of those in the pub were Arsenal fans. They had cheered Theo Walcott, when he was creating damage on the right, but they had been rather subdued when Ashley Cole had done the same on the left. There was the odd groan, when he did something stupid or wrong, but nothing that indicated what would happen later.
It’s all in the Press now and this piece from Graham Le Saux in the Telegraph describes it in detail.
Ashley Cole made a terrible mistake and Kazakhstan scored and afterwards he was relentlessly booed.
It was just the same in the pub. But it was mainly from the Arsenal fans, who as one explained to me, when I questioned their sportsmanship and loyalty, said that they had never forgiven him for the manner in which he left Arsenal for Chelsea.
There obviously must be a very high level of resentment, as Arsenal fans on the whole have a good reputation for sportsmanship. In fact, a couple of weeks ago, they were reported as applauding the Hull team off the pitch, when they had suffered a home defeat.
The two stories don’t fit.
Will Grant Be Fired?
So Chelsea lost on penalties. Good! but Manchester United won on penalties. Bad!
So will Grant be fired? Probably!
My son just phoned me up! He said I ought to wear a tee-shirt with “This breast hates Chelsea” around one and “This breast hates Man Utd” around the other.
He thought the ref had a good game.
Money Can’t Buy You Love
Or Cup success for that matter.
I’ve laughed like a drain today, as first Manchester United and then Chelsea have been dumped out of the Cup by lesser opposition.
It was very much a case of the size of the dog not mattering, but the size of the fight in the dog.
The Not So Special One
So Chelski have fallen out with Jose Mourinho.
They broke the only rule worth following in management.
They hired someone who was undoubtedly good, but someone who is definitely a man who knows his own mind. And then they told him how to do it and kept doing things he didn’t like.
You only have to look how well, Manchester City and Arsenal are doing this year, probably with players a notch below those at Chelski. Both clubs have managers, who are in charge and they are not overuled.
Waking Up Late
I woke about one thirty and immediately turned the television on to watch the football.
I thought for a moment, I’d misheard when they said that Spurs were beating Chelsea by three goals to one. I hadn’t and my man got rather fed up with my celebratory bouncing on the bed.
Sadly, it didn’t last and the final score was three each.
I think I’ll try and get tickets for the replay.
This must be the latest I’ve slept in for some years. Whatever is becoming of me?
What I Don’t Like About England
Chelsea winning.
